Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort and VillageAll-Inclusive 5-Star Luxury Resort Brings First-of-its-Kind Experience to Bavaro Beach

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The Challenge

After designing the iconic 5-star resort Costa Meloneras for the Lopesan Hotel Group in the Canary Islands, HKS was tasked by the clients with the design and development of the first all-inclusive 5-star luxury resort and shopping destination in the powdery white sands and crystal blue waters of the well-known tourist destination of Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana, DR. The project includes two luxury hotels and an entertainment village broken into two phases to create an all-in-one world class destination.

The Design Solution

In Phase One, the resort and village took shape with a contemporary design inspired by the Spanish Colonial past incorporating tropical Caribbean vibes. By opening views from guestrooms, lobby and food and beverage outlets to provide an airy and fresh atmosphere, we created an indoor/outdoor barefoot luxury. Maintaining an intimate feel within such a large space was accomplished by infusing each venue with its own unique character and flavor providing the guest with widely varied and engaging experiences. A village-like atmosphere with meandering avenues and pathways surrounded by lush landscape in an open-air environment allow the resort to unfold gradually with new surprises everywhere.

The Design Impact

Because of its sheer size, this mammoth complex has provided thousands of jobs to the local community. With tourism as the main market in the area, the resort and shopping center has become a first-of-its-kind destination for travelers in Punta Cana.
