Confidential South Texas Resort & Conference CenterResort & Conference Center Provides True Texas Spirit of Hospitality
Houston Area, Texas, USA
The Challenge
Plans called for the expansion and renovation of an existing resort, conference center and spa to create a destination and well-being campus in the Houston, Texas area. The renovation included the current Conference Center and the new construction of an all-day restaurant and gourmet market, event pavilion, waterside bar, a state-of-the-art spa, and unique concept spa water experience to establish a gathering place for families and friends, both romantic and communal.
The Design Solution
The design is holistically centered around the idea of looking at the resort through a modernist lens, allowing the repositioning of its business model into an exclusive destination hotel in the Houston metropolitan era and beyond.
The resort reconfigures itself and updates the quality to allow better customer service and operations while maintaining a balance with the budget and the real beauty of the architecture currently established. The parking reimagined allowed for revenue-generating venues to be front and center, and discreetly make it disappear within the woods.
Through embracing the woods and creating a holistic and connected resort spa experience, HKS designers sought to transcend the business aspects of the hotel and create an integrated, open, and welcoming living room while elevating the social amenities of the resort. The spa “WaterBlu” concept introduces a new, club-like style environment for wellness and social relaxation. The abundance of natural light and the use of Texas limestone and wood give spaces a warm and contemporary feeling and enhance the indoor/ outdoor connection.
The Design Impact
The resort will become a perfect way for the community to experience the true Texas spirit of hospitality in the Houston area. In addition to enhancing and expanding the existing amenities, the resort will introduce the new concept of “WaterBlu,” an outdoor wellness waterpark. WaterBlu will include a sauna, steam rooms, mud hut, grotto pool and the therapeutic river walk making it a year-round destination for business travel, vacation guests and the local community alike. The design protects the natural beauty of the environment of the area as well as uplifting the quality of the stay and the experience of the guests and visitors.
